Hi there,

My name is Jamil. I’m a landscape photographer based in Canada.

Landscape photography did not arrive suddenly. It emerged slowly, through hikes, long silences, storms, and those fragile first lights on a ridge. A camera taught me how to slow down… and truly see.

Over the past four years, I have lived largely on the road & trails, including nearly three years in a van, guided more by light, weather, and curiosity than by schedules.

I spent 14 months exploring New Zealand, another 14 months exploring the French Alps, and the Dolomites.

My photography is less about perfection and more about atmosphere, emotion, and presence. Less about speed or algorithms, more about connection.

Because much of my time is in remote environments, I completed Wilderness First Responder training and obtained certification in 2021. It continues to shape how I approach the mountains: with calm awareness, preparation, and respect for risk.

About Echoes of Light & Landscape ?

Echoes of Light & Landscape is a newsletter for anyone drawn to landscape and adventure photography. Here, I share field stories, practical insights, my creative process, and personal reflections. Once a month, I’ll share a more in-depth post designed to help you grow your photography, the kind of guidance I wish someone had placed in my hands in my beginning.

I’m often moving from place to place, this isn’t a traditional weekly newsletter. Instead, it arrives at an intentional pace, only when there is something truly worth sharing.

Please bear with me, as I’m not a writer by trade. It takes me a lot of time to put these together because I want this to be truly purposeful and meaningful. If you find value in what I share, please consider subscribing.
